Bar Stools Are Made of These

Bar Stools Are Made of These

Although nothing is really certain about the origin of the stool, it seems that the first of these were made purely of wood. When adopted by the richer classes, upholstery was added for a more comfortable seat. Today, centuries later, bar stools are constructed out of different materials, or a combination of these materials, and they come in various designs.

Wood, when finished well, has a timeless appeal, and it is for this reason that plenty of bar stools are still made of them. These come in hardwoods such as Asian hardwood or pine, rubber wood, oak, maple, or beech. These woods are sturdy and can be expected to last especially when properly kiln-dried and coated with protective sealants. The seats of wood stools can either be upholstered or not. If they are, these can be in leather, leatherette or faux leather, vinyl, or other strong fabric covering a layer of foam.

Metal bar stools are also common and they come in classic, as in the wrought iron kind, as well as contemporary designs. Metals are often used as frames or stands of the stools with seats and backrests made of other more comfortable materials. This can be in some form of styled resin, upholstery, or wood. Metal stools have the advantage of being more weather-resistant than wood and thus are more suited for outdoor use.

There are also bar stools made of bamboo. These often exude an exotic appeal or a tropical ambience in the bar counter. When properly treated with chemicals and sealants, bamboo can also last a long time. As with the wood bar stools, their seats can either be upholstered or not.

Resin is increasingly being used for bar stools, either as seats, armrests, and backrests standing on a metal pedestal, or as the entire stool. One model is even made purely of recycled plastics that have been heated and extruded. Since resin can be molded into almost any shape, it can be formed and styled in virtually endless designs. They also have the advantage of being resistant if not impervious to rotting and rusting.
